Windows or Open Source, Part-2: Advantages of Selecting Windows
Part-2: Advantages of Selecting Windows
Every webmaster has to choose an operating system of expertise before he can hone his skills. This article focuses on enlisting the benefits of selecting Windows as your OS for webmaster expertise.
1. Higher pay: only large organizations and professionals select windows operating system for their backend. Windows server comes with a lot of restrictions and therefore only expert webmasters can handle software development for the windows environment and their service comes at much higher price compared to open source webmasters and developers.
2. Competition: there are only a handful of developers for Windows environment compared to the open source environment. The learning process is much more complex and requires a person proper training to develop and design applications for the windows environment therefore only a handful of developers opt for windows, in other words- little or no competition.
3. Job security: as I’ve already mentioned, Windows is for large organizations and large organizations always look for permanent employees compared to small business that require a webmaster’s service once in a while. While large organizations recruit webmasters and give them permanent jobs small businesses only look to outsource as and when the need arises.
However, keep in mind that you can find far too less jobs as a freelancer if you choose to gain expertise in Windows operating system development environment. Moreover, unlike in open source you won’t find half the work done by others which you are allowed to build upon, you can not even use a script you built for another client or for the same client but another project, you have to start from scratch for each and every project.
So, if your aim is to find a job in a large organization or you are more interested in long term positions only then you should choose Windows Operating System.
